A state of emergency has been declared across the State of Michigan in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic (Executive Order 2020-59), which affects our capacity to provide plumbing services.
In an effort to preserve the health and safety of our community and visitors, while complying with rules and regulations created to do the same, Kester Plumbing is currently only able to provide service deemed necessary to sustain or protect life, pursuant to Michigan Executive Order 2020-59 as outlined below.
Temporary requirement to suspend activities that are not necessary to sustain or protect life
1. This order must be construed broadly to prohibit in-person work that is not necessary to
sustain or protect life
…
4. No person or entity shall operate a business or conduct operations that require workers
to leave their homes or places of residence except to the extent that those workers are
necessary to sustain or protect life or to conduct minimum basic operations.
Michigan's Governor Whitmer has been explicit in directing businesses with interpretation of her Executive Orders: “Don’t play fast and loose with what is essential and what is not. Don’t try to skirt the rules, if you’re not an essential business, you need to close, and you need to protect your employees.”
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued an Emergency Order on April 2, 2020, requiring compliance with Executive Orders under penalty of civil fines and referral to licensing agencies for enforcement. As a plumbing contractor licensed by the State of Michigan, we will not make exceptions which would subject us to fines or jeopardize our license status.
If you are a customer of Kester Plumbing whose plumbing system in your primary residence (for which you have been inhabiting for more than 14 days) is failing to provide running water, hot water, or adequate drainage of essential fixtures, we may be able to provide assistance. Please contact us at 906-484-3403 or office@kesterplumbing.com if you are experiencing a plumbing emergency.
We look forward to being able to resume our typical services and appreciate your understanding in helping us to maintain the health and safety of our community and visitors. Thank you for your personal efforts in complying with restrictions set forth to maintain health and safety for the greater good.
Sincerely,
Marc and Georgie Kester
We will continue to update our status as orders are modified, renewed, or expired.
